This is an ombré nail with a rose gold eclipse moon at the base of the nail.
The moon was achieved by painting the nail entirely with the metallic polish (butter London: fairy lights; it photographed more golden. In person the color is a softer rose pink) this polish is extremely reflective, gorgeous! The only criticism I have is that it becomes a bit duller when a topcoat is applied and - if your nails are ridged or bumpy, the polish will enhance inconsistency in the nail bed because of it’s reflective quality.
Next I applied the deep navy color a few millimeters from the edge of the metallic color.
The ombré effect was created by mixing the fuchsia color with clear polish on a paint mixing tray.
I applied the translucent color very carefully in layers with a larger square artists brush making more opaque blends for each layer and allowing ample time for the polish to dry between coats.
Finally, I top-coated for shine and to give the illusion of a flawless gradient.
Inspiration for this nail style came from Christopher Kane’s resort 2012 collection.

This weekend I’ll be helping out at The Art of Fashion 2011 Runway Show, held at Millennium Park - Chase Promenade and I got my nails did by Astrowifey for this event. She hooked me up! I love the design and she’s such a sweet hustler.

Finally got my paws on Isis Nicole, fellow nail lover from my city, Chicago! She’s part of the Nail Porn team, and shes a fierce blogger on her own tumblr. The colors on the coral color came out a bit more orange than it is in person. Here were pictures for the inspiration.
