The reason people find it so hard to be happy is that they always see the past better than it was, the present worse than it is, and the future less resolved than it will be.

One of the most loving things you can do for another person is let them make their own mistakes, learn their own lessons and endure in the contrast of a life they don’t really want. People only really change when they’ve hit rock bottom - sometimes the most loving thing you can do for a person is to let them and be there to help pick up the pieces. Permanent change comes from within, no one can give it to you.

I don’t usually post anything quite as serious as this, but this video has struck a chord with me. I’ve always believed in equal rights and supported gay marriage & this video is of importance because it really delves into a situation that many gay couples go through. Although it may not be as severe as Tom & Shane’s situation, I’m sure everyone can relate in some way. At some point in time, we will all lose a loved one; whether it’s your wife, daughter, mother, uncle, etc. Now imagine losing your partner & being denied any sort of information regarding to their death because you are not technically their “spouse” or related to them by blood. This is what Shane had to endure when he lost his boyfriend, Tom. What made it even worse is the fact that Tom’s family didn’t want Shane to be any part of Tom’s wake or burial. Tom’s family were outraged when Tom came out to them & revealed that he was gay. Tom’s own father threatened him with a gun & physically attacked him. His mother told him it was a sin & it was Shane’s fault that their son was gay. She also wished Tom had told them earlier so they could’ve gotten him help. It was as if Shane didn’t exist & that he wasn’t an important part of Tom’s life. How can you do that to someone who loved & cared for your own son? To someone who still continued to be in his life & give him the support he needed, the support that you didn’t want to give him? HOW?! That infuriates me so much! D:< I can’t even imagine going through what Tom & Shane had to endure. Had they been able to get married, things would’ve been different. It’s important for these issues to be talked about in order for there to be change. We must speak up & stand up for what we believe in. Please spread this video not only to spread awareness, but to let those who have gone through similar situations know that they’re not alone.

Each person comes into this world with a specific destiny—he has something to fulfill, some message has to be delivered, some work has to be completed. You are not here accidentally—you are here meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The whole intends to do something through you.

Anything that annoys you is “for” teaching you patience.
Anyone who abandons you is “for” teaching you how to stand up on your own two feet.
Anything that angers you is “for” teaching you forgiveness and compassion.
Anything that has power over you is “for” teaching you how to take your power back.
Anything you hate is “for” teaching you unconditional love.
Anything you fear is “for” teaching you courage to overcome your fear.
Anything you can’t control is “for” teaching you how to let go and trust the Universe.
